AlumierMD Chemical Peel

What to expect

Over the next few days your skin may feel tight, dry or sensitive, and you may notice some light flaking, redness or peeling as the treated skin renews itself. This is a normal part of the process and usually settles within 3–7 days, though everyone’s skin responds a little differently.

Immediate Care (day of your peel)
  • Do not cleanse your skin this evening — wait until the following morning.
  • Avoid applying ice or ice-cold water to the treated area.
  • Keep your skin dry and undisturbed for the rest of the day; avoid touching or rubbing it.
For the following 5-7 days
  • Use only the aftercare products provided or recommended by your practitioner — keep your routine simple and gentle.
  • Keep your skin well hydrated; this is key to comfortable, even healing.
  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning, and reapply if you’re outdoors — your skin will be more sun-sensitive than usual.
  • Let any flaking skin shed naturally — please don’t pick, peel or rub it, as this can cause irritation, scarring or uneven pigmentation.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and very hot showers for 2 days.
  • Avoid swimming and strenuous/aerobic exercise for 2 days.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 14 days.
Products and Treatments to avoid for 14 days
  • Retinoids (retinol, tretinoin/Retin-A, Tazorac) and high-strength AHA/BHA exfoliants.
  • Facial scrubs or other mechanical exfoliation.
  • Other resurfacing treatments — laser, photofacials, further peels or microdermabrasion.
  • Waxing, threading or electrolysis on the treated area for 7 days.

SkinPen Microneedling

What to expect

Immediately after treatment, your skin will look and feel similar to mild sunburn — warm, red and slightly tight or swollen. This usually peaks within the first 24–48 hours and settles over 2–5 days. Fine flaking or a slightly rough texture is common around day 3 as the skin’s micro-channels close and healing continues.

Your take-home Lift and Recovery serums

You’ll leave with two SkinPen aftercare serums — please use these, and only these, on the treated area for the first 24 hours. Don’t introduce your normal cleanser, moisturiser, SPF or make-up until the timeframes below, as this can irritate the skin while the micro-channels are still closing.

Lift Serum: apply immediately after treatment and reapply as often as needed — this is the only thing that should touch your skin for the first 24 hours. It may sting lightly for a few seconds on application; that’s normal.

Recovery Serum: once your Lift Serum bottle is finished (or after 24 hours, whichever comes first), switch to the Recovery Serum. Apply a thin layer 2–3 times a day to keep the skin calm and hydrated — continue this for at least 5 days, or longer if your skin still feels tight or dry.

Do not use water or any other product on the treated area for the first 4–6 hours — tap water isn’t sterile and can increase the risk of irritation while your skin is most vulnerable.

Apply with clean hands only, in a thin layer — there’s no need to rub it in; let each layer absorb for a few minutes before adding more.
